Chernihiv
The stadium, with a capacity of 12,060 spectators, played a significant role in the development of professional sports in Ukraine. It is used for football matches, is the home arena of the Ukrainian women's football team and the Desna football club, and has the status of an Olympic training base. Before the full-scale Russian invasion in Ukraine, the stadium was planned to be certified by the requirements of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
The stadium was built at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1936. During World War II, it was significantly damaged by bombing, but it was restored in the 50s.
The Stadium was destroyed for the second time as a result of shelling by Russian artillery on March 5, 2022. The eastern stand of the stadium was damaged. Devastating damage to the stadium was caused by aerial bombardment by Russian troops on March 11, 2022. Three high-explosive aerial bombs were dropped on the stadium, as a result of which the arena field was damaged and one of the stands was destroyed.
