The State Tax University is one of the largest educational institutions in Ukraine with developed infrastructure. About 5,000 students study there.

In the first days of the Russian occupation, about 300 people were hiding in its buildings and then this number kept only increasing.

On March 4, the Russian military shelled the central campus of the university, a teaching house on Sadova Street, an assembly hall, and the dormitory №1. The Russians fired from tanks, used missiles and artillery. One person was injured in the shooting. In addition, the Russians seized the premises of the law faculty building, where they held captives. Now the buildings of the university are 50% destroyed.

Currently in the university canteen, one can find volunteer assistance. There people prepare free lunches for employees and other residents of the city who need it.
