The former Maslovsky Profit House, Svobody Str.
The former tenement house of the retired navy lieutenant Ivan Maslovsky was an architectural and urban planning monument of local significance. Built in 1911 according to the project of architect Moses Meletinsky, the building was decorated in the Art Nouveau style with floral and animalistic motifs: on the walls along the stairs "grew" meadow grasses, "flew" pigeons, "twined" stems with flowers.
For the last 10 years, the artpub "Staryi Khem" has been located in the house, poets and musicians have been holding creative evenings here. Above the pub there were some residential apartments.
The house survived the period of Ukrainian liberation struggles of the early twentieth century and the Second World War. But it did not survive under Russian shelling. On the morning of March 14, the Russians launched an airstrike on the house, as a result of which its central part was destroyed to the ground. Two people who were in the apartments died under the rubble of the house.
