Kharkiv
Adidas Store
This building is an architectural and urban planning monument of the late nineteenth century. It was built in 1894 as a residential building with an iron products store "Lux" on the ground floor. It was built by merchant Pavlo Ryzhov, who was known for his charity. And in recent years, the house had a store of the sports brand Adidas.
The building also preserves the memory of the darkest page in the city's history — the years of the Holodomor. In the early 1930s, it had a Torgzin ("trade with foreigners") point. In the famine years, Kharkiv residents brought their family gold here to exchange it for food.
On March 2, a Russian missile strike damaged the facades, windows and roof of the historic building.
