Kupiansk. City center
Kupiansk, Kharkiv region
Kupiansk is the city on the east of the Kharkiv oblast, one of the most affected by Russian aggression. From 27 February to 16 September 2022, the city was under Russian occupation. Since Kupiansk is located at the intersection of railway and road routes, the Russians actively used the city as a base from which troops were transferred to Izium, Kreminna, and Siverodonetsk. The locals recall that during the occupation, the Russians intimidated the locals, prevented them from moving around the city, and constantly terrorized pro-Ukrainian residents.
After the deoccupation by Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russians continued to terrorize the civilian population with constant shelling. Explosions take place in the city every day. Since the front line lies only eight-nine kilometers from the eastern outskirts of the city, various types of weapons are used to shell the city, including S-300 missiles and artillery shells. Over the last six months, the Russian army destroyed dozens of buildings, for example, the Kupiansk Motor Transport College, the central city hospital, as well as almost all buildings in the center of the city.
