Mykolaiv Zoo
Since the beginning of the war, Russian troops have repeatedly shelled the zoo in Mykolaiv. For the first time, Russian missiles landed on the territory of the zoo on March 7. Shells fell near the enclosures of tigers and a polar bear. Fortunately, the animals were not injured. Several more rockets exploded on the territory of the zoo on March 23, April 19, and May 5.
The Mykolaiv Zoo is one of the oldest in Ukraine: on April 16, the institution celebrated its 121st anniversary. 400 species of animals are represented on the territory of the zoo, half of which are rare and endangered. In total, the zoo cares for 4,000 animals.
