Palace of culture "Korabelnyi". Central hall

On the morning of July 5, the Russians shelled Mykolaiv again. One of the rockets hit the building of the Palace of Culture "Korabelny", as a result of which the facades, walls, roof, floor, and interior of the building were partially destroyed, and cracks appeared in all structures. The auditorium and the stage were completely destroyed, and all the windows were blown out. "Korabelny" was built in 1959 according to the project of the Moscow architect Kostyantyn Bartoshevych as a cultural center of the newly built "Ocean" plant. The building is made in the neoclassical style with baroque elements and is the most striking example of the urban planning style of that time. According to similar drawings, another 135 cultural centers were built on the territory of the former USSR. The interior layout resembles a theater: through a spacious vestibule with a wardrobe, the viewer enters the foyer, decorated with stucco and huge mirrors. The entrance to the 500-seat concert hall is also located in the lobby. The lobby is adjoined on two sides by three-story wings, which house a gymnasium, a library, and rooms for various groups and sections.
