On the night of August 17, two Russian missiles hit the building of the Black Sea National University named after Petro Mohyla. As a result of the shelling, the front part of the building was destroyed, and the main entrance was damaged.
On the night of August 19, the Russians fired at the university again from the S-300 missile system. One of the rockets hit the facade, and other hit the roof. This time, the Russian rockets caused much greater destruction, the main building of the university was actually destroyed. As a result of the explosion, the main walls were knocked down and shifted, which led to the collapse of the entire structure from the fourth floor to the basement.
According to the rector of the university, the main building, where the Mykolaiv port craft school and other educational institutions have been located since 1862, cannot be restored.
