Tsyrkuny, Kharkiv region
The village of Tsyrkuny, located in the suburbs of Kharkiv, was occupied by the Russians on the first day of the full-scale invasion, February 24, 2022. In March-April, the Russian military used the village as a stronghold from which they shelled Kharkiv, in particular the Northern Saltivka district, which is located a few kilometers away.
On May 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated Tsyrkuny from occupation. However, the Russians shelled the village almost all summer with artillery and sometimes mortars. 80% of the buildings here were destroyed, and many houses were looted by the Russians during the occupation.
