During the occupation of Balakliia, the Russians set up their base and ammunition warehouse on the territory of a lyceum in the village of Verbivka. In early September, Ukrainian troops de-occupied the settlement. During the retreat, the Russians detonated part of the ammunition, significantly damaging the school and nearby houses.
