In 2014, Russian militants came to their house in Novoselivka, Donetsk region, and wanted to kill the entire family for their pro-Ukrainian stance. In 2022, they had to flee their home because they knew for sure that this time they would not be forgiven. After the de-occupation of the village, the Zaitsev family returned to their home. There, they saw the roof and garage destroyed during the shelling, as well as the consequences of the Russian occupation. The charity foundation “East SOS” helped the family rebuild their home. We visited them to tell their story.
